Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born September 23, 1949) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He has released twenty studio albums, many of which feature his backing band the E Street Band. Originally from the Jersey Shore, he is one of the originators of the heartland rock style of music, combining mainstream rock musical style with narrative songs about working class American life. During a career that has spanned five decades, Springsteen has become known for his poetic, socially conscious lyrics and energetic stage performances, sometimes lasting up to four hours in length. He has been nicknamed "the Boss".Springsteen released his first two albums, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle in 1973, both of which failed to earn him a large audience. He changed his style and reached worldwide popularity with Born to Run in 1975. It was followed by Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) and The River (1980), which topped the US Billboard 200 chart. His first album without the E Street Band was Nebraska (1982). Born in the U.S.A. (1984), which reunited Springsteen with the E Street Band, became his most commercially successful album and one of the best-selling albums of all time. Seven of its singles reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, including the well-known title track.

Bruce Springsteen Archives

Bruce Springsteen Archives is an ongoing collection of officially released live albums by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Beginning in November 2014 with the release of the 2012 Apollo Theater concert, Springsteen sought out to release fully recorded shows from his past archives officially to fans for purchase. The releases, which focus on past tours prior to the launch of the archive, have ranged from the Born to Run tours through the Wrecking Ball World Tour; subsequent shows from 2014 on have been released on an ongoing basis, with full tours represented, as part of the same program. The idea originally came after Springsteen released every concert from his High Hopes Tour for fans to purchase. Those shows were originally released for a limited time after the original concert dates, and were made available on a permanent basis after the launch of the archive. Several shows had previously circulated among fans as bootleg recordings; the archive releases are sourced from soundboard recordings, and are digitally restored and remastered. Releases are provided in a variety of digital download formats or on CD.Following the release of the Wachovia Spectrum 2009 show, it was announced that the following releases would focus shows even further back the band's history to cover more historic tours and performances, and in August 2017, nugs.net representative Brad Serling announced during an interview on E Street Radio that 25 additional archive releases were planned, to be released on a monthly schedule, starting with the 1977 Palace Theatre and Auditorium Theatre shows. The archive series has since eclipsed that original expansion as of the May 3, 2019 release.

Bruce Springsteen discography

This is the discography of Bruce Springsteen, an American songwriter, singer and musician. Springsteen has released records steadily since 1973, and is widely known for his brand of heartland rock infused with pop hooks, poetic lyrics, and Americana sentiments centered on his native New Jersey. The E Street Band have been Springsteen's primary backing band since 1972 and have appeared on a majority of his studio albums and live releases. Springsteen also released one studio and live album with The Sessions Band. Springsteen's recordings have tended to alternate between commercially accessible rock albums and somber folk-oriented works. His most commercially successful period occurred between 1975's Born to Run and 1987's Tunnel of Love. 1984's Born in the U.S.A. launched Springsteen into superstardom and the album went on to become one of the biggest selling albums of all time. It produced seven top-10 hit singles, tied for the most ever with Michael Jackson's Thriller and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. Springsteen has steadily maintained a loyal audience since his 80s success, and experienced a renewed commercial strength since 2002's The Rising, the first in a string of consecutive successful albums following a 1999 reunion with The E Street Band with whom he parted ways in 1988. 2014's High Hopes was Springsteen's eleventh No.

Dancing in the Dark (Bruce Springsteen song)

"Dancing in the Dark" is a song written and performed by American rock singer Bruce Springsteen. Adding uptempo synthesizer riffs to his sound for the first time, the song spent four weeks at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over one million singles in the U.S. It was the first single released from his 1984 album, Born in the U.S.A., and became his biggest hit, helping the album become the best-selling album of his career. "Dancing in the Dark" was also successful worldwide, becoming Australia's highest-selling single of 1984 (despite peaking at number five on the Kent Music Report), peaking at number one in Belgium and the Netherlands, and charting within the top 10 in seven other countries. The song is listed among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

Greatest Hits (Bruce Springsteen album)

Greatest Hits is the first compilation album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released February 27, 1995, on Columbia Records. It is a collection of some of Springsteen's hit singles and popular album tracks through the years along with four new songs at the end, mostly recorded with the E Street Band in 1995. The latter constituted Springsteen's first (albeit very partial) release with his backing band since the late 1980s. Some of the songs are shorter versions of the original album releases. The incorporation of the "new" tracks was portrayed in the 1996 documentary Blood Brothers. "Murder Incorporated" and "This Hard Land" were, in fact, unused 1982 songs from the Born in the U.S.A. sessions, with the latter being re-recorded here more than a decade later, and both subsequently became Springsteen concert staples. "Blood Brothers", on the other hand, was played only as the final closing song of both the 1999–2000 Reunion Tour and 2002–2003 Rising Tour, both times with an extra verse added. "Secret Garden" achieved notoriety via the soundtrack of the 1996 film Jerry Maguire.
