List of New Jersey Devils draft picks

The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The club was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, moved to Denver, Colorado, as the Colorado Rockies after only two seasons, and then settled in New Jersey in 1982. Since arriving in New Jersey, the Devils have drafted 329 players. New Jersey's first draft pick was Rocky Trottier, taken eighth overall in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Eighteen picks would go on to play over 1,000 NHL games: Brendan Shanahan, Pat Verbeek, Kirk Muller, Ken Daneyko, Martin Brodeur, Scott Niedermayer, Brian Rolston, Patrik Elias, John MacLean, Bill Guerin, Eric Weinrich, Scott Gomez, Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, Brian Gionta, Petr Sykora, Steve Sullivan, and Jason Smith. By nationality, the Devils have drafted 156 Canadians, 93 Americans, 26 Russians, 15 Swedes, 11 Finns, nine Czechs, six Slovaks, three Germans, one Briton, one Kazakh, one Latvian, one Pole, one Austrian, one Belarusian, and one Swiss. The Devils have drafted 12 players from the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), more than from any other team; the OHL also comprises the greatest number of draftees by league for the Devils, as 69 OHL players have been drafted. 184 forwards, 111 defensemen and 30 goaltenders have been drafted. The Devils hosted the 2013 NHL Entry Draft at their home arena, the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey. It was here where the Devils traded their first round selection, the ninth overall, to the Vancouver Canucks to acquire starting goaltender Cory Schneider. After winning the 2017 NHL Entry Draft lottery, the Devils selected Swiss center Nico Hischier with the team's first ever first overall pick.

List of New Jersey Devils head coaches

This is a list of New Jersey Devils head coaches. The Devils had 17 different head coaches since the team moved to New Jersey in the 1982–83, with Jacques Lemaire serving as coach three times and Tom McVie, Larry Robinson, and Lou Lamoriello each serving twice. Three coaches have led the team to a victory in the Stanley Cup Finals: Lemaire in 1995, Robinson in 2000, and Pat Burns in 2003. Lemaire is the all-time leader in games coached and wins, while Burns leads in winning percentage (with at least one full season coached). Several former players have worked for the Devils as assistant coaches, including John MacLean and Bobby Carpenter, the only men whose names are inscribed on the Stanley Cup as both a player and a coach with New Jersey. MacLean later served as head coach and is the only former Devils' player to serve in that capacity. On December 26, 2014, after the firing of DeBoer, head coaching responsibilities were split between Adam Oates and Scott Stevens for the remainder of the 2014–15 season, with Lamoriello supervising the team from the bench.Alain Nasreddine serves as the team's interim head coach after John Hynes was fired on December 3, 2019.

List of New Jersey Devils seasons

The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The team is a member of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Devils arrived in New Jersey in 1982 after transferring from Denver, Colorado, where they had been known as the Colorado Rockies since 1976. Before that, the franchise entered the league as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974. The 2019–20 season is the 37th season of play in New Jersey. It is the 45th year for the Devils franchise, and including the team's time in Kansas City and Denver, the Devils have won over 1,300 regular season games, 17th overall in NHL history.New Jersey played its first 11 seasons in the Patrick Division before moving to the Atlantic Division when the NHL renamed divisions in 1993. The Devils first qualified for the playoffs in 1988, eventually losing in the Conference Finals. The team then made the playoffs several times after that before capturing their first Stanley Cup in the lockout-shortened 1994–95 season. The following year, the Devils missed the playoffs, becoming the first team in 26 years to fail to qualify for the playoffs the season after a Stanley Cup victory. Since 1997, however, the Devils qualified for the playoffs each season until 2010–11, a streak surpassed only by the Detroit Red Wings.

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference. The club was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974. The Scouts moved to Denver in 1976 and became the Colorado Rockies. In 1982, they moved to East Rutherford, New Jersey and took their current name. For their first 25 seasons in New Jersey, the Devils were based at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford and played their home games at Brendan Byrne Arena (later renamed to Continental Airlines Arena). Before the 2007–08 season, the Devils moved to Prudential Center in Newark. The franchise was poor to mediocre in the eight years before moving to New Jersey, a pattern that continued during the first five years in New Jersey as they failed to make the Stanley Cup playoffs and never finished higher than fifth in their division, which had six teams at the time. Their fortunes began to turn around following the hiring of president and general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987. Under Lamoriello's stewardship, the Devils made the playoffs all but three times between 1988 and 2012, including 13 berths in a row from 1997 to 2010, and finished with a winning record every season from 1992–93 to 2009–10.
