2005–06 Los Angeles Clippers season

The 2005–06 Los Angeles Clippers season was their 36th season in the NBA and their 22nd in Los Angeles. The Clippers finished with 47 wins and 35 losses in the regular season, their best record since the 1974–75 season when they were the Buffalo Braves and made the playoffs for the first time since 1997 as the 6th seed, finishing with a better record than their crosstown rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, who finished two games behind them with a 45–37 record as the 7th seed, for the first time since 1992. In the playoffs, the Clippers defeated the 3rd seeded Denver Nuggets in the First Round in five games, marking the first time they have won a series since moving to California in 1978. The Clippers would then advance to the Semi-finals, where they lose in seven games to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns had previously defeated the Clippers' Staples Center co-tenants, the Los Angeles Lakers, in seven games in the First Round after being down 1–3 in the series. The Clippers would not return to the playoffs until 2012.

2014–15 Los Angeles Clippers season

The 2014–15 Los Angeles Clippers season is the 45th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), their 37th season in Southern California, and their 31st season in Los Angeles. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer became the new owner of Clippers. The team finished 56-26 on the season, only one game fewer than the previous season, clinching the 3rd seed for the NBA Playoffs. In the playoffs, the Clippers faced the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs in the First Round, winning in seven games after Chris Paul hit a game winning layup with 1 second on the clock and Matt Barnes blocked a desperate final inbound pass by the Spurs as time expired to seal the victory and the series, winning Game 7 111–109. The Clippers' season ended with a Game 7 loss in the semifinals after leading the series 3–1 over the Houston Rockets, missing out on what could have been the Clippers' first Western Conference Finals appearance in franchise history. The Rockets would go on to lose the Western Conference Finals to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors in 5 games.

2020–21 Los Angeles Clippers season

The 2020–21 Los Angeles Clippers season was the 51st season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), their 43rd season in Southern California, and their 37th season in Los Angeles. On September 28, 2020, the Clippers and head coach Doc Rivers mutually agreed to part ways after seven seasons with the team. On October 20, 2020, the Clippers promoted Tyronn Lue as their new head coach. The Clippers made the deepest playoff run in their 51-year history. They advanced to the Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history after defeating the Utah Jazz in six games in the Conference Semifinals. Their run would come to an end against the Phoenix Suns (who were led by former Clippers star Chris Paul) in the Conference Finals, losing in six games. The Clippers were the first team to come back from down 2-0 twice in the same playoffs, denying the Dallas Mavericks and the Utah Jazz a chance at a 3-0 series lead, which no team in NBA history has ever come back from in a playoff series.

Lakers–Clippers rivalry

The Lakers–Clippers rivalry is a National Basketball Association (NBA) rivalry between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. The two Pacific Division teams both play their home games at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, inspiring their matchups to sometimes be called the "Hallway Series" or "Battle of L.A.". The Lakers relocated from Minneapolis in 1960, while the Clippers moved from San Diego in 1984. While Los Angeles fans have historically favored the Lakers, the Clippers have sold out or filled capacity for every home game at Staples Center since Feb. 2011 and entered the 2016–17 season with the sixth-longest active sellout streak in the NBA. The Lakers have won 12 of their 17 NBA championships since moving to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Clippers have made the playoffs only eleven times since 1984 and were long considered the laughing stock of the NBA; they had never advanced past the second round of the playoffs until 2021. Some contended that the term rivalry was inaccurate until the Clippers became more successful. In 2012–13, the Clippers won the first of six straight season series against the Lakers. The Lakers hold a 104–61 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams have never met in the playoffs.

List of Los Angeles Clippers seasons

The Los Angeles Clippers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and are a member of the NBA Western Conference's Pacific Division. The Clippers were founded in 1970 as the Buffalo Braves. They were one of three franchises that joined the NBA as an expansion team in the 1970–71 season. The Braves moved to San Diego, California after the 1977–78 season, and became known as the San Diego Clippers. For the 1984–85 NBA season, the Clippers moved north to Los Angeles and became known as the Los Angeles Clippers. On October 14, 1970, the Braves beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 107–92 in their first game. In the 1972 NBA Draft, the Braves selected Bob McAdoo, who later won such awards as Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player. During McAdoo's years (1972–76) with the franchise, the Braves reached the post-season three times and had a record of nine wins and 13 losses during that time. Overall, the Clippers have qualified for the post-season sixteen times; most recently in the 2020–21 season.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Clippers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Pacific Division in the league's Western Conference. The Clippers play their home games at Crypto.com Arena, which they share with NBA team Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), and the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Clippers plan to move into their own arena, the Intuit Dome, in nearby Inglewood by 2024. The franchise was founded as the Buffalo Braves in 1970 as an expansion team. Led by Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo, the Braves reached the NBA playoffs three times during their eight seasons in Buffalo. Conflicts with the Canisius Golden Griffins over the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium and the sale of the franchise led to their relocation from Buffalo to San Diego, California in 1978 and subsequent rebranding as the San Diego Clippers, in reference to the sailing ships seen in San Diego Bay. The team saw little success on the court and missed the playoffs during all six of their years in San Diego. In 1984, owner Donald Sterling controversially relocated the franchise to Los Angeles without NBA approval, which was permitted following legal action between the league and Sterling. Over the course of their first 27 seasons in Los Angeles, the Clippers qualified for the postseason only four times and won a single playoff round.
